Attend to the 13th World Congress on Alternatives and the Use of Animals in the Life Sciences as a Chair and Speaker in a Session.

The World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences is a prominent international event dedicated to advancing the 3Rs in animal experimentation. This 13th edition will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The submitted proposal for the session "How Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Support Good Animal Welfare and the Transition to Animal-Free Research" was accepted and included in the Animal Health section. Our goal is to provide a foundation for conducting accurate systematic reviews (SR) and meta-analysis (MA) in preclinical research while showcasing examples of their application. The role of the applicant will be Session Organizer and to present the findings from our latest paper, which discusses recent insights from SR and MA on repurposed drugs for Chagas disease that failed in clinical trials. The presentation will also focus on ways to standardize and improve preclinical models in Trypanosoma cruzi infection studies.
