Speaker at UFAW International Animal Welfare Conference 2024. Title of Presentation: Pan-African Network for Laboratory Animal Science and Ethics (PAN-LASE): Education and Training in Research/Laboratory Animal Sciences, Welfare and Ethics. The paper seeks to disseminate information and knowledge on the education / training activities of PAN-LASE (a non-profit education/training organization) across Africa by educating and entrenching animal welfare and ethics in the care and use of research animals. PAN-LASE has conducted this training for about 6years now across some African countries. This has led to the development of animal welfare and the establishment of Animal Ethics Committees (AEC) in some institutions / countries thereby improving humane practices and delivery of quality research that are acceptable by international journals. PAN-LASE trainings are based on 3Rs principles delivered in 'Train the Trainer' model. Bayero University Kano, Nigeria; Universty of Ibadan, Nigeria; Makerere University, Uganda; Institute of Primate Research Nairobi, Kenya among many others are example of institutions that have established AECs.

Laboratory Animal Science (mouse/rat) - BERLIN, EU Function A, D (formerly FELASA B) Laboratory animal science course, 2.5 days practical training, plus an online course for the theoryOur FELASA certified laboratory animal science course (mouse/rat) provides a thorough introduction to animal experimentation. The intensive practical training takes place in a small group in Berlin and lasts 2.5 days. The theory is provided as an online course beforehand, allowing you to follow your own time schedule. The syllable follows EU recommendations* for functions A "carrying out procedures on animals" as well as D "killing animals" and also covers modules 20 "Anasthesia for minor procedures" and 22 "Principles of surgury".

Master in Laboratory Animal Science and Welfare (UAB) is accredited by the Felasa and forms part of the UAB Laboratory Animal Residential Program recognised by European College for Laboratory Animal Medicine.

The aim of this application is to request funds to finalize the Master's Degree in Laboratory Animal Science and Welfare, at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. This Master will allow me to improve the dissemination of best practices in Laboratory Animal Science in my home country (Argentina) as well as in my role as a trainer in a world-leading institution in the UK.

The program is specifically designed for veterinarian responsibly in situ of the welfare and care of animals. The program is taken in modules and aim to provide the necessary expertise in all relevant areas in laboratory animal Science that allows professional excellence and specialization. Each module of the course can be completed independently and some of them lead to obtaining accreditation for other functions such as performing procedures, project and procedures design or project evaluation. The course is designed to be completed in three years and to be fully compatible with a full-time job. The modules are intensive and two are run each year lasting between 1-2 weeks. In this way, the course can accommodate students who live outside Barcelona.
