FIRST INTENSIVE LABORATORY ANIMAL SCIENCE COURSE IN KENYA HOSTED BY EGERTON UNIVERSITY-KENYA IN COLLABORATION WITH UTRECHT UNIVERSITY-NETHERLANDS
Laboratory animal science remains under developed in Kenya despite exponential use of laboratory animals in research and education. The intended course will be the first intensive laboratory animal course (LAS) in Kenya. The course will target scientists, technicians, post graduate students and academic staff working with animals in research and education. The purpose is to create a nucleus and a community of practice that can act as trainers of trainers in laboratory animal science in Kenya. Majorly, the course will be facilitated by seasoned trainers from Utrecht University in Netherlands led by Prof Vera Baumans. Competent local trainers will facilitate some sessions as well. This two weeks course will be hosted by the Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology, Egerton University and will be locally organized by Dr. Samuel Nderitu Nyaga.
