There is a problem of aflatoxin in milk and milk products which is mainly contributed by farmers exposing animal to animal to contaminated feeds hence the molds products passed to human which is of public concern, hence this work aim to investigate the level of mycotoxins and to minimize it, also to bring awareness of the problem in the area, hence funding this project will help the country to take measure on the matter and save life of people. when funded this work will be attached to Nelson Mandela Institute of Science and Technology in Arusha, Tanzania

This grant request seeks financial support for attending the Master in Laboratory Animal Science and Welfare course, a renowned program focused on providing comprehensive education in laboratory animal care, ethics, and welfare. By participating in this course, I aim to enhance my professional development and acquire advanced knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for the highest standards of animal care in research settings within Brazil. The acquired expertise will be shared with my peers and the broader research community through presentations, publications, and collaborative projects. Ultimately, the grant will contribute to the advancement of laboratory animal science education in Brazil, bridging the knowledge gap and fostering a culture of care and responsibility. This will, in turn, promote the continuous improvement of animal welfare standards in the country, ensuring the ethical treatment of animals in research and a more sustainable scientific ecosystem.

ESLAV-ECLAM Summer School 2023 (Diseases and Diagnostics)

Since 2016, the European Society of Laboratory Animal Veterinarians (ESLAV) and the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ECLAM) have organised an annual summer school. The summer school provides high quality training for laboratory animal veterinarians.The topic of this year`s summer school is “Diseases & Diagnostics of Animals used in Science”. Top internationally-recognised experts have been invited to cover the following topics: • Viruses, Bacteria, Parasites; Non-infectious diseases • Etiology, Epizootiology, Clinical Signs, Pathology, Diagnosis, Differential, Prevention and Control, and Research Complications • Microbiological Quality Control for Laboratory Animals including sampling, tests and diagnostic program.All participants of the summer school will achieve the best of knowledge and will help disseminate the good practices learnt across their local animal facilities and their impact field. The program will address diseases of the following species: Mice, rats, other rodents, rabbits, ferrets, swine, farm animals, nonhuman primates, amphibians, zebrafish, avian, reptiles, and wild animals.

Speakers for the 5th Meeting of Federation of Hispanic Societies and Associations for Laboratory Animal Science of North America, Central America and Caribbean (FESAHANCCCAL) and Ist Meeting of Panamanian Association of Laboratory Animal Science (APCAL). 2023

We are organized the V International Meeting of the FESAHANCCCAL. I Meeting of the APCAL. Our main objective is to bring together the specialists of the region, to promote scientific exchange that contributes to the ethical use of animals. The event will take place in three days: the first day will be the certification exam for technicians and researchers endorsed by the Federation and two pre-congress workshops, the second and third day will be for the presentation of papers by the invited speakers. The funds requested will finance the attendance of some speakers invited: travel ticket finance, the hotel paid and food. The beneficiaries will mention the support received from LAL in the way indicated for LAL.
