HSBLAS Severity Seminars

Hellenic Society of Biomedical and Laboratory Animal Science (HSBLAS) aims to organize a series of FELASA Severity Workshops, in different cities of Greece where research establishments are located, in order to raise awareness on the concept of severity classification, the use of refinement and humane intervention points and to facilitate harmonization of the approach of severity classification within Greece. FELASA Severity Workshops are delivered in a standardized format, under the FELASA Severity Core Trainers' supervision, with the aim to familiarize the audience with the requirements for the severity classification framework and improve accuracy and consistency throughout Europe. Ultimately, through the information provided in the workshops and the subsequent discussions, the audience will be inspired to improve laboratory animal welfare.

ATTEND A COURSE TRAINING COURSE LABORATORY ANIMAL SCIENCE FOR SCIENTISTS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DESIGN OR CONDUCT ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS.

Dear Professor,Myself, Madhan Tamizharasan. I have completed my Bachelor's of Pharmacy and my Master’s in Medical Biotechnology at UPO, Italy.Currently, I'm pursuing my Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Degree in Human Diseases with Morphological Phenotyping in Mouse Models (MorphoPHEN, Veterinary Medicine) at the University of Barcelona.During my Erasmus, I'm studying Human diseases and morphological phenotyping on a mouse model. So I have basic ideas of Human and Animal anatomy, Pathobiology, Embryology, Dissections, etc.In Italy, I got an opportunity to learn and perform imaging techniques (PET, CT, US, MRI, X-ray on animal models (Mouse and Rats). I've also obtained my FELASA A accreditation to perform experiments on mouse models. So it would be very helpful if I get any funding possibilities for pursuing my FELASA functions. That could be my Thesis as well.I hope I can fulfill your expectations. I have good communication and leadership skills. I'm a more open-minded and dedicated person.I'm looking for opportunities where I can learn something and improve my skills.Looking forward to hearing from you.LinkedIn Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dr-madhan-tamizharasan-cpc-crc-71b76816a Thank you. Gold Open Access publication of “Guidance on the assessment of learning outcomes for those designing procedures and projects – Report of an ETPLAS Working Group” in Laboratory Animals Journal

The Education & Training Platform for Laboratory Animal Science (ETPLAS) was tasked by the European Commission (EC) funded Preparatory Action "Promoting alternatives to animal testing through accessible and harmonised education and training" (Grant agreement no. 09.200200.A092004/2021/864077/SUB/ENV.B.2) to provide assessment criteria for the Learning Outcomes for the different modules and functions as defined in the Education & Training Framework guidance document of the EC. This Working Group has submitted the manuscript describing the assessment criteria for persons designing procedures and projects with LAJ. The paper has passed its initial review with minor revisions now being carried out (LA-23-231.R2). This paper follows the publication of the first paper by this Working Group in LAJ: 2021;55 (3):215-232. Session on Openness in Oceania and the Pacific at the Openness on Animal Research Conference 2024

With sponsorship from Laboratory Animals, Understanding Animal Research Oceania will hold a session on the development of Openness in Oceania and the Pacific at the Openness Conference (West-Midlands, UK, May 2024), marking 10 years of the Concordat on Openness on Animal Research in the UK. Pioneering a collective approach to open communication on the use of animals in research, the Concordat on Openness has inspired Openness Agreements around the world. The New Zealand Openness Agreement (2021) was the first of these agreements to be launched outside Europe, followed by Australia’s recent agreement (August 2023). The Openness Conference is the first of its kind, and will feature practical examples, activities and strategies from a wide variety of institutions. Three participants from the Oceania region will be supported to present about practices from the Oceania and Pacific region, and to share ideas gained with Oceania’s animal-based research communities on their return.
