Development and organization of The Fifth ExpoBioterios. Conference on the Science of Laboratory Animals in Latin America. ExpoBioterios (EB) Hybrid will be a face-to-face and virtual event. The Conference will be held in the University of Costa Rica, San José – Costa Rica (face-to-face) and the streaming hosted on a platform that will enhance the interaction of the attendees with the speakers. The scheduled days for the event will be July 10th, 11th and 12th, 2024.

The general theme of the V SPCAL Congress is “LAS for all: Laboratories, Animals and Scientists”, aiming to be an event as comprehensive as possible, for those involved in the use of animals for scientific purposes, including researchers who carry out research with animal models and vivarium professionals (directors, managers, veterinarians, technicians, and caretakers). We have already prepared a "news" for publication in Laboratory Animals Journal - October 2023 edition

The European Society of Laboratory Animal Veterinarians (ESLAV) and the European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ECLAM) have been organizing annual summer schools since 2016. The schools' aim is to provide education and high-quality training for laboratory animal veterinarians. The 2024 ESLAV-ECLAM Summer School will be focused on Facilities management. The main aim of the event is to provide insights into topics that managers daily deal with while running animal facilities. The three main streams will be: sustainability and life cycle of animal facilities, data management and team management. These topics will be developed through workshops and interactive participation of the audience. The audience would be limited to 40 participants, to enhance the interactions, the possibility to discuss case studies and to provide valuable networking. Despite the Summer schools are mainly for veterinarians, the 2024 edition will be open also to non-veterinarians, in order to include all facility managers.

The Sri Lanka Association for Laboratory Animal Science (SLALAS) is planning to organize a two-day International conference and Scientific Sessions with an exhibition under the theme of ‘Openness, Transparency, and Accountability in Laboratory Animal Experimentation: The unmet need’ on 20th & 21st January 2024 in Colombo. This is the first time that an exhibition related to laboratory animal science (LAS) has been organized in Sri Lanka. The conference program includes keynote addresses and guest lectures with the participation of several international scientists/experts. For the first time, we are introducing a symposium on anesthesia and a Round Table session with the participation of technical officers of animal facilities to raise their voices. This will be a session to recognize animal house technical officers' contributions to the LAS field. In addition, as Pre-conference events we have planned a photo competition and a ZF course to be conducted in November and December 2023.
